Need more water?Carry another pail!*really this should be four km, but we’ll give you a break!Three Day Food Rations ChallengeCollect the standard rations for each individual who’s participating. The daily ration is:Cereal (flour, rice, cornmeal, oatmeal, etc.) – 400 gramsPulses (beans, lentils, etc.) – 50 gramsOil (vegetable oil) – 50 gramsSalt – 5 gramsWater – 5 L(NOTE: the cereal and pulses should be unprocessed; no breakfast cereals, no cans of beans)Eat only these rations for three days. Use only one pot and prepare the food on a small cook stove, firepit or barbeque.Even though this is a simulation, you’ll notice:• How it feels to have no other options but to eat the little food you were given;• How much stress hunger places on relationships, parenting children, carrying on “normal” tasks;• How much food we normally consume, our wastefulness, and how muchvariety we expect in our diet.ADRA Canada • www.adra.cafundraising powerkit 05
