Firircombe Light <strong>Railway</strong> - Darray - Darren Fen Franklin009 4mm scale layout depicting a fictitious light railway somew<strong>here</strong> on the south coast of England. The line is in thebusiness of not only carrying tourist traffic but also transporting a decent amount of freight to the local docks.alley TramwGlyn Valley Tramway - Pay - Peter BinnsA condensed model of Glyn Ceiriog, the passenger terminus of the tramway. The line carried slate and granite from nearbyquarries to connections with the GWR at Chirk and the Shropshire Union Canal at Gledrigg Wharf. The tramway closed in1935 although t<strong>here</strong> is now a preservation scheme planning to rebuild part of the line at Chirk.Gravel Bottom - Brian WilsonThis mixed 0-16.5 and standard gauge layout depicts a gravel works w<strong>here</strong> standard gauge wagons are shunted under thehopper to collect the gravel. Moving up a level, the gravel is delivered by narrow gauge hopper trucks that self empty. Onthis level t<strong>here</strong> is a small work shop which takes care of maintenance. The large building is a cider factory.Iianbruck – Mark HedgecockecockIianbruck is an Austrian end of line station in a wooded area below the tree line in the mountains with lots of holidaymakerswho are going for walks. Also today is market day in the village. T<strong>here</strong> is a small wood yard, which uses the line to send thelogs down the mountain to the mill.The stock consists of ready to run, some scratch built and adapted kits, scenery is the traditional mountain. The pattern ofoperations is that of the basic light railway, and gives an opportunity for “ guest “ stock to be run, The layout shows whatcan be achieved in 009 <strong>Gauge</strong> in a fairly compact space.Lyddbridgyddbridge - Wessex <strong>Narrow</strong> <strong>Gauge</strong> - Wessex <strong>Narrow</strong> <strong>Gauge</strong> ModellersThe Lydd Valley <strong>Railway</strong> is a narrow gauge line set in a fictitious North Devon location. Commencing at Lyddmouth on the coastLyddbridge is the furthest point off locomotive working on the journey inland. Extensive use is made of diesel railcars that workright through to the inland terminus. From Lyddbridge a branch line climbs on to the moors to a recently established heritage siteat a long abandoned quarry. Building this branch involved lifting the old little used goods yard, converting the goods shed into thebranch railcar depot and installing the bay platform and trackwork. The carriage siding and loco servicing spur to enable the locohauled trains to layover were also put in at this time. In the town the local historic transport group have set up a museum in the nowdisused bus garage and hope to set up a service around the town centre.Pagham Harbour – Richard Rundle/7mm <strong>Narrow</strong> <strong>Gauge</strong> AssociationLayout in 7mm/ft scale inspired by the light railways operated by Col H F Stephens.Pike’s s Pits – Peter Hollins/Purbeck Minerals & Mining Museum12mm Scale Finescale Layout, 2 ft. 8 in. <strong>Gauge</strong>,Situated between Furzebrook & Creech in the Isle of Purbeck, Pike’s Pits were w<strong>here</strong> ball clay was mined since the mid 18thcentury. The clay was weat<strong>here</strong>d, and then transported by tramway to Ridge Wharf for shipment via Poole to the potteriesin Stafford, London and other parts of the world. After 1939 the tramway was truncated at Furzebrook, and the clay was thenall shipped via the standard gauge Swanage branch of the Southern <strong>Railway</strong>, and latterly British <strong>Railway</strong>s.Pike’s Pits depicts the 1950’s period after the introduction of lorries, which eventually replaced the tramway altogether in 1959. Thetramway was originally gravity worked until introduction of a steam locomotive built by Bellis & Seekings Ltd. in 1866. This wasfollowed by “Secundus” from the same manufacturer in 1874, which is now preserved in Corfe Castle goods shed. Fayle’s tramwayand Pike Brothers tramway are now in the process of being reborn in the form of the Purbeck Mineral and Mining Museum atNorden park and ride site on the Swanage <strong>Railway</strong>. The PMMMG from the Swanage <strong>Railway</strong> have their displays and literature withinthe confines of the layout, as it is promotion of the Mining Museum at Norden that this layout is associated with.Priory Lane - 16mm Steam railway ay - David Parks16mm scale live steam layout although diesel outline locomotives will also be seen. The layout was built in 1992 over aperiod of months by a team of five friends. All the buildings on the layout were constructed at that time. Can you guess whatthe diesel loco shed is made from? See if you can spot some of the unusual passengers waiting for trains at both stations.The layout has become a regular at the <strong>Amberley</strong> Gala Weekend (Layout is in Betchworth Hall, by Brockham Station).Roestok - Ian Turner (Wessex <strong>Narrow</strong> <strong>Gauge</strong> Modellers)Roestok is an 009 layout of a 2ft gauge branch line terminus somew<strong>here</strong> in what was the British Empire in southern Africa.Much of the stock used is based on South African <strong>Railway</strong> prototypes although some are based on railways from other partsof the world.Southdown <strong>Railway</strong> Company – South Hampshiray Company – South Hampshire Garden Railwe Garden <strong>Railway</strong> Gray GroupLive steam layout with narrow gauge trains from around the world (Layout is in Humphrey’s Barn close to <strong>Amberley</strong> NGStation). It features dual gauge 32mm and 45mm track with a variety of steam and battery operated locomotives.Touchwouchwood ood - Nick PidgleyTouchwood is a freelance layout set somew<strong>here</strong> in the south of England in the 1960s. The line serves the small town ofTouchwood which is about half a mile away from the station, typical of many light railways. The line has a small goods yardfrom which produce from local farms is taken to the larger town to be sold at market. The train then returns with goods forthe locals at Touchwood. Scale is 7mm/ft – 0-16.5.LIVE STEAM MINIATURE RAILWAYOnce again Michael Hall and David Taylor will be <strong>here</strong> with their portable live-steam narrow gauge railway, using 5” and7¼” gauge track providing rides.
