Navy personnel perform most of the required repair and maintenanceactivities while underway.According to a 2007 EPA 4 draft report, cruise ships generate from 0.7 to 7.7 pounds ofsolid waste per person daily. In the report, analysis of five studies produced by a rangeof organizations including environmental groups and the cruise industry identified anaverage of 4.48 pounds per person per day. The April 2008 <strong>Nimitz</strong> study calculated anaverage of 3.7 pounds per person per day.
