Dear SGMA Capital Challenge® Participants:1999 SGMA Capital ChallengeThanks for taking part. In addition to having a lot of fun and demonstrating that many people in Washington areextremely fit, we raised almost $12,000 for D.C. Special Olympics. All things considered the weather was quite goodand certainly better than the next day. While we lost several captains and teams who had to cover the hurricane and/or were unable to get back to D.C. for the race, the turnout was excellent again (29 members of Congress ran).Congratulations to the FBI, the fastest and fittest overall team for the third year in a row, and all the division andindividual winners.A special thanks to SGMA (Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association) our title sponsor and to Prudential, DeerPark, Roll Call and Running Times whose continued sponsorhip means so much to the success of the race.We appreciate the contributions and support of our Advisory Committee, the U.S. Park Police, the National ParkService, the many enthusiastic volunteers who help put this race on, and Don Kardong, our official “whistle blower.”And last we couldn’t do it without the help of Assistant Director Henley Gabeau, Registration and Scoring Chief BJBlunt, and Assistant to the Director, Kate Rainey who work so hard each year behind the scenes on so many aspectsof the race.We are always interested in any comments you have on the race so feel free to contact Jeff at: 110 East State Street,Suite 15, Kennett Square, PA 19348.We mail out entries to team captains in late June. If you are not a captain and want to be added to the mailing justdrop Jeff a note.See you next September 13, for our 20 th in 2000. We hope to make it a very special event.Sincerely,Jeff DarmanDirectorTom CoveVice President, SGMAContentsFinishers .......................................................... 3Individual Results .......................................... 8Team Results ................................................... 8Summary of Competition ............................. 9Volunteers ..................................................... 15Cover Photo: (L-R) John Riddle,President SGMA and Rep.
