Coaching staffChris Malone - Head CoachChris Malone became the head coach of the <strong>Sun</strong> <strong>Devil</strong>’s Men’s <strong>Lacrosse</strong> teamin August 2007. He came to ASU, as he believed the team had a talented groupof players for the 2008 season. He was named the WCLL coach of the year in2008 as the team had their best season ever in their 40 year existence. Theteam made it to the semi-finals of the MCLA Tournament. ASU enters the 2010season with a #5 national ranking in the MCLA.Prior to ASU, Chris coached two years at Loyola Blakefield High School andthree years of the University of Pennsylvania as an assistant coach. During histenure at Penn in 2004, they made the NCAA Division I playoff tournament andfinished the year ranked 13th in the country. This was Penn’s first tournamentappearance since 1989.Chris’ lacrosse career began at age 8 in Baltimore, MD. He graduated from Loyola Blakefield in Towson,MD in 1997. His career continued at the University of Maryland as a two-time All American midfielder. Heled Maryland in goals in 2000 and was a team captain in 2001. He was named a two-time scholar athleteand was a two time recipient of the William Cole memorial Award, which was presented to the most outstandingmidfielder at Maryland. Chris was a participant in the 1998 NCAA Div. I Championship Game.After graduating, Chris was selected 10th overall in the Major League <strong>Lacrosse</strong> draft in 2001 by the NewJersey Pride. He was traded to the Philadelphia Barrage for the 2005 Season. The Chicago Machineselected him in the 2006 expansion draft. That season he had 14 goals and 5 assists in 11 games.In addition to ASU Men’s <strong>Lacrosse</strong>, Chris runs Arizona Burn <strong>Lacrosse</strong>, formerly Arizona Starz <strong>Lacrosse</strong>.Joe Kostolansky - Assistant CoachJoe Kostolansky is an Assistant Coach for the Arizona State University Men’s <strong>Lacrosse</strong>Team beginning in September 2009. Coach Kostolansky brings five years of NCAAcoaching experience with previous jobs at Skidmore College (NY), Nazareth College(NY), and the University of Vermont. In addition, Kostolansky also served as the HeadCoach at Marin Catholic High School in 2009. He served as an assistant coach atVermont (NCAA Division I) in 2007 and 2008 and was primarily responsible for theCatamounts’ offense. In 2006, he helped lead Nazareth to the ECAC ChampionshipKostolansky is a 2003 graduate of Hofstra University where he was a four-year letterwinner at attack for the Pride and participated on four teams that played in the NCAA Division 1 tournament.Kostolansky served as team captain his senior year and was a two-time 1st Team All-Conferenceselection. Kostolansky played four seasons of Major League <strong>Lacrosse</strong> with the Rochester Rattlers, BostonCannons, and San Francisco Dragons. He is a graduate of Corning East High School (NY) and was aNorth/South All-American in 1998In addition to serving as an assistant coach for the ASU Men’s <strong>Lacrosse</strong> program, Joe assists CoachMalone with Arizona Burn <strong>Lacrosse</strong>.Ben Vosika - Asst. CoachBen Vosika is a 2008 graduateof ASU and face-off specialistfor the <strong>Sun</strong> <strong>Devil</strong>s. In 2008,Ben won the Unsung HeroAward as his face-off successeshelped the team record itsbest season in its history.
