Each thirty minute Battle Scars TV episode wasaired four times a week on Shaw TV in the Capital Region of Edmonton. In August of 2012, it began airing inother Alberta centres including Red Deer and Fort McMurray plus all their surrounding communities. Starting inSeptember, the retooled and improved season one will begin its run in Calgary, Fort McMurray, Red Deer andagain in Edmonton. Starting in November of 2012, the production began on Season Two. At about the sametime, Shaw TV broadcast the two hour "Battle Scars 2012 Remembrance Day Special" to all their communitiesacross the country.SYNOPSISBattle Scars is a TV series that explores stories and interests that are important to Canada's veterans, soldiersand military supporters. The documentary style series feature a variety of stories and segments aboutCanada's military and civilians in war and peace and is backed by a production team of civilians, soldiers andveterans.CELEBRATING CANADIANSThe filmed segments are intended not only to demonstrate a growing pride amongst Canadians for our militaryhistory and personnel, but also educate an appreciative public of Canada’s historical military involvement athome and around the world. Too often, Canadians are better informed about our neighbours to the south, and“Battle Scars” seeks to change that by raising awareness as well as an appreciation for the sacrifices so manyhave made on our behalf.PROJECT SUMMARYFilmed on location in Edmonton Alberta and surrounding areas, “Battle Scars” has been produced through thesponsorship and support of private sector entities who share this vision of providing insight and reverence forthe Canadian military. As well as distribution through television, “Battle Scars” will also be available throughvideo portals, and educational facilities in Canada and around the world will have the opportunity to downloadand view the series at no cost or purchase on DVD. We invite all Canadians to become involved by watchingand supporting our endeavours. If not for our military, Canada might not be the resilient and envied nationthat it is.
