Tribal Breastplates – We often wonder where the tribe was travelingwhen they lost this set of Tribal Breastplates. The breastplates arrived atUnclaimed Baggage in 2010 and are now on display in our mezzanine.Breastplates have been used as protection from injury since ancienttimes. Native tribes fashioned theirs from animal parts, such as hides,bone and fur, as well as beads and other decorative items secured fromtraders. Breastplates such as these are still worn in tribal dances andceremonies.Chinese Opium Scales – Since 2009 these Chinese Opium Scales havemade their resting place here at Unclaimed Baggage in Scottsboror,Alabama – that’s a long way from home. For centuries, the Chineseweight scale measured herbs, medicines and precious gems. It was alsoused for illegal purposes measuring opium in the 1800’s, thus giving it thenickname “opium scales.” For portability, they were designed to fit neatlyinto wood cases shaped as a fish or a violin.Visit the Unclaimed Baggage Center Museum for more unusual items!These and other weird and wonderful UBC treasures can be seen on rotating displays in the Unclaimed BaggageCenter museum and on exhibit throughout the store. A timeline of UBC’s history, videos with fun facts and finds, as wellas a reel of media stories that have highlighted the company over the years, can be viewed in the UBC museum.

He spent over a decadewith Family Christian Stores in their operations and marketing departments.After Family Christian Stores he held executive roles with Innovative,Kerusso and Mailbox Books.As the Vice President of Marketing at Unclaimed Baggage he is responsiblefor retail sales, integrated marketing strategies, in-store experience andbrand awareness.Rainey currently resides in Scottsboro, Alabama with his wife and four oftheir six children.Brenda CantrellBrand AmbassadorUnclaimed Baggage CenterBrenda Cantrell was born and raised in Scottsboro, Alabama. She attendedthe University of Alabama in Huntsville where she received a bachelor’sdegree in Marketing. After graduating, she returned home and decided tosubmit her resume at Unclaimed Baggage Center. She was chosen for thejob as Concierge and is now the Brand Ambassador.Cantrell has coordinated all national and international media that comes tothe store including the Late Show with David Letterman, CNN and TravelChannel.
