these organizations and Bureau of Agriculture and Rural<strong>Development</strong> (BoARD).<strong>The</strong> results show that women’s groups are not popular inthe study area. <strong>The</strong> existing formal groups or associationsare mostly in favor of men. <strong>The</strong>refore, efforts should bemade to encourage women to establish social groups andassociations. <strong>The</strong>re is need for transforming the existinginformal social groups into self-help groups (SHGs) withpurposive planning of projects and programs that will empowerand benefit women. Women’s affair at the regionaland district level has to lead this initiative with a closeand collaborative support of NGOs and BoARD.
