AJR INFORMATION June, 1958
FROM MY DIARY
Visit to Leicester
Throughout the past years, the activities of the
AJR have been concentrated on safeguarding the
interests of the community and carrying out social
Work of various kinds. However, the arrangement
of regular meetings has, generally speaking, been
J|ft to other organisations of Jews from Central
Europe which had been founded for this specific
purpose. Only when special occasions arose were
Jafge gatherings convened, especially in London.
Of course, this has never precluded giving
niembers in the Provinces—who, unlike those
>n London, cannot discuss their personal problems
3t AJR Headquarters—information by the spoken
Word, in addition to the services rendered by AJR
'nformation.
The interest of friends in the Provinces in
obtaining such first-hand information on what was
going on, was confirmed in a meeting which took
place on May llth at Leicester under the C^hairmanship
of Dr. M. Levy. The attendance
exceeded by far the expectations of the organisers,
and the reoort given by Mr. W. Rosenstock,
^Jeneral Secretary of the AJR, was followed by
a lively discussion.
It was an encouraging experience, and whenever
niembers at other Provincial places should wish
'O arrange similar functions, they can rely on the
Unreserved co-operation of London Headquarters.
Trcitschke und die Juden
Page 15
Rendez-vous. Von irgendwelchen nationalen
Empfindungen wusste dieser Judenjunge nichts."
Es folgte hefliges Scharren (studentische Missbilligung)
und noch staerkeres Trampeln (Billigung).
Von beiden Geraeuschen hoerte Treilschke nichts,
denn er war stocklaub. Er sprach ruhig weiter
und schloss diese Vorlesung mil den Worlen:
" Meine Herren. ich muss heule frueher schliessen,
ich bin zu Hofe befohlen."
