Versatile -solo to bluegrass sextetBlue Sage can perform in a variety ofconfigurations for different events. Solo, duo, trio, quartet, or quintet. Here you cansee Mike doing a solo show for theSmithsonian Institute at one of their travelingexhibitions. We host old-time barn dances for many events we play(especially weddings). We use excellent callers, all ofwhom are very good at getting non-dancers up andhaving a good time. This type of dance (contra) issimilar to square dancing but much easier and, in ouropinion, much more fun!We can perform as a full, five or six piece band for occasions where a highenergy bluegrass/newgrass sound is wanted. Blending elements ofbluegrass, folk, blues, rock, and jazz; this configuration defies description. Aclassic 'Grateful Dead' piece might be followed by a light jazz soundinginstrumental tune which in turn might be followed by a hard driving bluegrasssong. The one constant is the use of the clawhammer style of banjo ingenres of music which have seldom heard it's unique sound!5/6
