HAIR STYLIST: Marlow Proctor from Richard Joseph SalonSpa. Marlow has been a stylist for eight years, most recently at an Aveda salon in Charleston, South Carolina, before moving to Birmingham and Richard Joseph. MAKEUP ARTIST: Angela King. Angela has been a makeup artist at Richard Joseph for the past year and frequently does makeup for weddings. She can either come to your wedding site, or you can visit her at the salon. THE LOOK FACE: Tinted moisturizer in Sweet Tea; Inner Light concealer in Balsa; Dual foundation in Honey. EYES: Petal Essence eye color in Illumination, Plume Poppy, and Aura; eye color Earthen used as a liner; mascara in Black Forest; Petal Essence eye color in Sandlewood on brows. Heather transitioned to hair styling after many years as a receptionist at Sanctuary. She apprenticed under Todd Cargo (co-owner of Sanctuary, along with Micah Cargo) and found she loved doing hair and had a true talent for it. MAKEUP ARTIST: Tabitha Boyd, a makeup artist for Real People Models and Talent. Tabitha started out modeling for Real People before transitioning into doing makeup, and she loves working with brides on their wedding-day makeup looks. THE LOOK FACE: Christian Dior foundation in Fluid; Bobbi Brown concealer; Bobbi Brown loose powder. EYES: Christian Dior eye shadow palette in Incognito; Christian Dior Maximeyes mascara. CHEEKS: Christian Dior Blush #639. LIPS: Christian Dior lip color Sparkling Rose. HAIR: Heather took about five inches off Dana’s hair to give it some bounce and then added a few faceframing layers. Of course, you’ll want to look and feel your absolute best on your wedding day, but that’s just the beginning. Here are some tips for staying fresh and healthy as you take your first steps into your new life. » Get moving! Exercise is vitally important to everyone, not just brides-to-be. Experts say to get at least 30 minutes of exercise on most days, but any amount you can fit in is better than nothing. » Drink water. Without adequate water consumption, your body can’t absorb vitamins and nutrients. It also helps you feel more energized, improves the health of your skin, and can even help you lose weight. » Eat healthy. This doesn’t mean stick to a specific diet. The idea is to consume more fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, and lean meats, and fewer sugary snacks, saturated fats, fried foods, and soda. » Take a snooze. Getting adequate sleep at night is crucial for being at your best. Aim for at least seven hours, preferably eight. Think of it as part of your “me” time. » Quit smoking (or don’t start.) There’s no doubt that smoking has an affect on your health. Quitting has both short-term and long-term benefits, including to your skin, hair, and nails. » Have a glass of wine! Studies show having one glass of red wine a day could potentially help protect you against heart disease. » Take time for yourself. Everyone needs space in his or her life to relax, recharge, and renew, and this is even more important when you’re in a period of transition and change.
