Pep Rally Boosts Spring Spirit
Fall and winter athletes have
always been treated to
an assembly in which
their accomplishments
are celebrated and the
non-athletes are given
an opportunity to cheer
on their peers. Every
year football, soccer,
volleyball, track, basketball,
swimming,
and wrestling teams
showcase their players.
For the fi rst time
in recent memory, the
opportunity to spread
school spirit has been
shared with the spring
sports athletes. It’s
been many years since
Laurel High School has
had a Spring Pep Rally.
Players from tennis, baseball, softball,
and track were recognized at
Voice of the Students
Dear Editor,
Thank You
Teachers
As we look forward to the
commencement ceremony of the last of
our three children, my wife and I would
like to express our gratitude to some
of the outstanding faculty, staff, and
administrators at Laurel High School
for their efforts in enriching our children’s
high school years. Our thanks to
Principal Jones and Mr. Sorber who
were instrumental in ensuring that our
oldest daughter received her degree.
Mrs. Rea, and Mrs. Davies, who are
no longer at Laurel gave our children
incredible support. Mr. Rooney, Mr.
Stark (also no longer at Laurel), Mr.
Brennan, Mr. Yoder, Mr. Giuliani, Mr.
Miller, Mr. Vissotto, and Mrs. Bruce
the grand opening of the school’s
new auditorium. This gathering
of students, athletes, and teachers
all encouraged our children to do their
best. A special thanks to Mrs. Davis
for her support and encouragement.
We would also encourage all
seniors to attend Grad Night. It is a
truly special event.
No Uniforms is
Wonderful
Dear Editor,
It is utterly amazing how the atmosphere
of school completely changes
during dress down week. Upon walking
into the doors of Laurel High
School on an average day, you are
inundated by a sea of white shirts and
khaki pants, but, walking into school
on a non-uniform day, you are greeted
with bright colors and individual per-
presented a forum for the athletes
to be introduced by an
enthusiastic emcee and
to be applauded for
their efforts.
The special guest,
former NFL player for
the Denver Broncos,
Steve Fitzhugh, entertained.
His inspirational
message and captivating
style of delivery
left the audience with a
lasting memory.
Although more
time should have been
planned for the introduction
of individual
athletes at the second
assembly, thank you to
the SGA for organizing
the long-needed spring
pep rally. Not only was
it a boost to the individual athlete,
but it promoted school spirit.
sonal styles. This adds a brightness to
the hallways and classrooms that isn’t
present when uniforms are worn. Fashion
and individual style is a way in
which students can express themselves
freely, therefore allowing for a more
conducive environment for learning
because students can feel free to express
themselves and develop their
own individual identities.
School is Too
Crowded!
Dear Editor,
When are they going to build another
high school for overcrowded schools
like Laurel High? The people at the top
say that the school has a high capacity
of students, but that we’re not over
crowded. When there’s two students
shy of forty per class there’s something
wrong because then we have to wonder
if they all are getting the proper amount
of education that a student should receive
during their high school career.
Some news websites and channels are
explaining to us that the United States
pretty much stinks when it comes to
math and sciences. So how is having
so many students in one class helping
with this educational problems?
