Kathrin Gass was born and raised in the harmonica<br />
metropolis Trossingen and attended the music school of<br />
the <strong>Hohner</strong>klang Orchestra, a mixed ensemble featuring<br />
harmonicas, accordions, keyboards and drums, where<br />
she studied under Helmut Herold, and later Yasuo<br />
Watani . She has won a number of international awards<br />
as a soloist including the solo chromatic prize at the<br />
World Harmonica Festival 2001, but her main emphasis<br />
in recent years has been on musical education, teaching<br />
children and young people to play the harmonica . Today Kathrin Gass teaches<br />
chromonica at the <strong>Hohner</strong> Conservatory in Trossingen and has also presented<br />
harmonica workshops in school music classes as well as writing instructional<br />
material for the instrument . She performs with the <strong>Hohner</strong>klang Orchestra and<br />
the quartet Harmonicamento .<br />
