China has a modern bankingsystems with ATMs and money changers in most larger ortourist towns. In China it is possible to use Visa/Mastercardand Cirrus/Maestro cards, however, we do advise that youcarry some cash currency from home as a backup. TravellersCheques are not always as easy to change by comparison. Mostinternational currencies can be exchanged in larger cities so it isnot necessary to bring only US Dollars - AUD, EUR, CAD, NZDare all accepted at banks in major centres.CostsWe recommend that you carry approximately $400 in local orUS currency in order to cover your shopping and souvenirexpenses. All meals are included with travel days and mosttravel sundries will be included. Drinks and alcohol are notincluded, and you will have the opportunity to dine withoutthe group on occassions if you prefer.Travel InsuranceIt is a condition of participating in a Grasshopper Adventurethat you hold travel insurance for the duration of the trip.Insurance must include comprehensive medical and emergencyevacuation. Your travel insurance details will be checked byyour group leader on arrival at the starting point hotel.PackingYou will be required to carry your own luggage when checkinginto or out of hotels and bags will need to be loaded on and offtrains and up and down stairs at stations. For this reason werecommend that you pack as lightly as possible in a backpackor small wheelie bag - please keep maximum weight to around15kg. This trip covers higher altitude areas where temperaturescan plummet at night.
