Males are duller coloured than females (Figs. 15, 16), <strong>the</strong> tips <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong>ir fingers, toes and cranial ridges black (pale yellowish brown). Dorsumand sides reddish-ash or reddish-brown, marbled with dark brown. Colourpattern in juvenile and subadult (16.5-32.0 mm SVL, <strong>WHT</strong>1729) specimenssimilar to adults but prominent ashy blue dots scattered on dorsum and sides(Fig. 18).In alcohol, dorsally buff (<strong>the</strong> males dark brown); limbs and sides <strong>of</strong> bodydark brown; venter dull yellowish brown marbled with darker brown patches.EtymologyThe species name honours our coi:eague Dr Andreas Nollert, who firstphotographed this species in <strong>the</strong> Sinharaja Worl.d Heritage Site (Dutta &Manamendra-Arachchi, 1996: Fig. 254) and drew our attention to <strong>the</strong> evidentdistinction between this species and o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Lankan</strong> Bufo.Vol.3.No.2. 237
