I N T ROD U C T ION<br />
<strong>James</strong> <strong>Watson</strong> <strong>Munro</strong> <strong>1888</strong>-<strong>1968</strong><br />
J W <strong>Munro</strong> was educated at the High School, Dundee, and<br />
Edinburgh University. He was appointed Assistant<br />
Professor of Entomology at <strong>Imperial</strong> <strong>College</strong> in 1926, and<br />
Professor of Entomology in 1930.<br />
In 1934 the Entomology and Zoology departments at <strong>Imperial</strong><br />
<strong>College</strong> were united and he became Professor of Zoology and<br />
Applied Entomology, holding this post until his retirement<br />
in 1953.<br />
The papers listed here were transferred to the archives<br />
from the <strong>Imperial</strong> <strong>College</strong> Field Station, Silwood Park.<br />
They are contained in five boxes and the reference number<br />
is KZB MUNRO. Other relevant material in the archives is<br />
listed in the appendix.<br />
