PROLOGUE
In the late 1970s, federal block grant
monies were made available throughout
Seattle. While most communities sought
funds for street lighting, trees or traffic
signals, Phinney Ridge residents had
bigger ideas. Our neighborhood was
one of 5 successful applicants, receiving
a $200K grant to develop programs to
serve residents living between 65th and
75th Streets, from Aurora Avenue to
3rd Avenue NW.
The Phinney Neighborhood
Association is the most
impressive I have experienced.
The variety of the programs,
the inclusion of the neighborhood
children and seniors is amazing.
This all-inclusive approach is
guaranteeing the preservation
of the area. BRAVO!
