A team that becamefriends, family and now… a community. This ability to build communities ofyoung South Africans from scratch is oneof the major strengths of SAWIP.What motivated me to apply to SAWIPwas the desire for ‘personal growth’. But,I wasn’t expecting to gain it in the way Idid. I wasn’t expecting my team to be themajor source of this growth. As young leaders, we may not save theworld or solve any major crisis (wemight) but we will never stop askingquestions and we will never stop tryingto contribute positively towards ourcommunities and towards our country. Iknow for sure, as a team of young peoplewe have never been so ready and so excitedto contribute. As I look back on the beautiful story wehave written together, I must remind myteam that, like our country, our finalchapter has not yet been written. It is upto us to finish our journey. I know as wemove forward our stories will forever beintertwined.(Extracted from Jessica Breakey’s speechdelivered at the Graduation 2013)The SAWIP Alumni Association WesternCape Chapter hosted its inaugural alumnireunion dinner on Saturday 2 nd , November2013 in Cape Town. The reunion aimed to establish a platformfor greater alumni collaboration.
