Surveying field notes• Most of the times, field notes are used by office personnel whohave not been to the field or who are not familiar with theconditions on site• Notes should be recorded in the conventional and generally usedformat and not according to the whims of the field surveyor• Notes should be intelligible to others without verbal explanations;the notekeeper should always put himself in the place of one who isnot in the field during the survey• Field work observation should be recorded directly in the notebookat the time the observations are made• In court, field notes may be used as evidence; original notes arepreferred over copied idones; erasures could rouse suspicion; iimistakes are crossed out in such a manner that they can still beread and the correct entry is made while still in the fieldPrepared by: Andre‐Paul C.
