How do you see the NHS ambulanceservices in particular and the wider NHS ingeneral contributing to the development ofthe paramedic profession?Claim Tax Backon Your Membership Fee’sThe Ambulance Service has come a long way in arelatively short period of time. It’s not that long agothat emergency ambulance staff would hold the‘Miller Badge’ qualification. From that grounding wenow have <strong>paramedics</strong>, whom year on year are ableto perform new procedures and administer newdrugs many of which were only previously providedin hospital.We have only just started to scratch the surfacewhen it comes to development for <strong>paramedics</strong>.Experienced staff rightly want to increase theirclinical skills. NHS Ambulance Services need toseriously look at roles for primary care and criticalcare <strong>paramedics</strong>. I mentioned earlier thatAmbulance Services could provide primary care andstaff walk in centres etc, we will need to createspecialist and advanced practitioners to staff these.This will be done with ambulance services workingin conjunction with other NHS organisations andother partners.Subscribing members may claim tax relief on subscriptionspaid to the College. There are three different ways of claimingtax relief on your membership fees.1. If you complete a self-assessment tax return, you can claim taxrelief from your registration fees on the employment page of thereturn.5. What do you see as the most importantareas in which the NHS ambulance services andthe College should work together?It is absolutely vital that the College of Paramedicsand NHS ambulance services continue to worktogether to further improve patient care and safetyby improving training, support, developing newequipment and enhancing clinical skills. I, like theCollege, am passionate about the paramedicprofession and wish to see us amongst the mostwell respected of clinicians.2.
