The <strong>European</strong> <strong>Association</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Pharma</strong> Biotechnology - EAPB - is a non-pr<strong>of</strong>it association and the<br />

representative and central network to promote and develop <strong>Pharma</strong> Biotechnology in Europe, linking<br />

academia, industries and regulatory bodies. It is dedicated to the advancement <strong>of</strong> biotechnology in<br />

pharmaceutical sciences, specifically as applied to industrial materials, processes, products and their<br />

associated problems. Its members are scientists employed in industry, government and university<br />

laboratories, biotech companies and scientific organisations.<br />

Vienna Institute <strong>of</strong> Biotechnology combines competences in microbiology, nanobiotechnology, food<br />

science, applied genetics, chemistry and watermanagement. It defines itself as a think tank for<br />

research, education and development <strong>of</strong> new technologies. Researchers at VIBT are collaborating<br />

trans- and interdisciplinary for solutions in medicine, nutrition, environmental protection and<br />

sustainable usage <strong>of</strong> natural resources. The network <strong>of</strong> disciplines in VIBT is outstanding, using<br />

technologies like genomics, proteomics metabolomics and bioinformatics.
