Novalis and
Sophie von Kuhn
Christopher Bamford
Friedrich von Hardenberg (called
“Novalis”) was the great prophet and
forerunner of Sophianic consciousness,
which he called “magical
idealism.” He created a body of work of
such radiance, transformative feeling, and
philosophical depth that only now can we
begin to understand the vision he embodied.
Called “to cultivate the earth,” to baptize
and humanize it by love raised to the
highest power, Novalis’ initiation
and transformation came through his
encounter with a young girl, Sophie von
Kuhn. He created a new world in which
the realities of alchemy, Hermeticism, and
the purest Christianity were renewed in
the human soul.
