Santa Barbara Yacht Club Does It Again!
steve Lew accepts a check from commodore Homer smith at the
sponsors’ Brunch to begin the regatta.
On September 13th, the Santa Barbara Yacht Club
outdid itself once again with an outstanding Regatta to
benefit Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care (VNHC). The
weather was perfect for racing and the harbor was filled
with boats as local sailors competed in a sailing race as
well as a predicted log event for power boats.
The day kicked off with a private sponsors’ brunch to
thank all of the sponsors who collectively contributed
$42,000 to the event. Our heartfelt thanks to them!
In addition to local sailors, this year’s event included
some “celebrity co-skippers” who helped “captain” some
of the boats involved in the race. Although they were
fiercely competitive, they also made the day extra fun for
everyone attending. Thanks to:
And, of course, the entire event would not be possible
without the tireless efforts of the Santa Barbara
Yacht Club and the Regatta Committee. Chaired by
Tony Papa, the Committee worked long and hard to
continue what has become a tradition of combining
a whole lot of fun with support of a great cause. We
