Mullingar’s most famous son and his father have both quashed rumours started by a national newspaper that the world’s biggest pop band are to split up. BY RONAN CASEY On Monday of this week, there was global shock with a story in The Sun newspaper saying the band were to split up next March to pursue solo projects. As a mark of how big the band is, the UK newspaper story travelled the globe with millions taking to social media to plead to their heroes to ‘say it isn’t so’. Topic can reveal that it is not so, and that the band are merely taking a rest. In a series of posts to his 23 million followers on Twitter, Niall refuted the claims, saying the band will be back. His father, Bobby said there was “no truth” to the rumours. FULL STORY: INSIDE Niall Horan on stage in Croke Park during One Direction’s first Ireland concert in May 2014.
