FORORD I denne publikasjonen presenteres rater for inngaelse og opplosning av ekteskap etter kjonn, alder og varighet av ekteskapelig status. Datamaterialet er hentet fra det sentrale personregisteret. Kvaliteten av datagrunnlaget og begrensningene i dette samt de statistiske metoder blir behandlet. Dessuten blir noen av hovedresultatene fra tabellene kommentert. Arbeidet ble pabegynt av Jan Monnesland og sluttfort av Helge Brunborg og Randi Selmer etter at Monnesland sluttet i Byraet. Alle tre har deltatt i utvikling av metoder og tolkning av resulta• tene. Beregningene er programmert av Jan Lundsbakken og Annikken Seip. Liv Hansen har tegnet figurene. PREFACE This publication presents rates for formation and dissolution of marriage by sex, age and duration of the <strong>marital</strong> status. The data are from the Central Population Register of Norway. The quality and the limitations of the data are discussed, and the statistical methods and the main results are presented. Jan Monnesland worked on this project until he left the Central Bureau of Statistics in 1980. The remainder of the work was done by Helge Brunborg and Randi Selmer. All of them participated in developing the methods and interpreting the results. The programming was done by Jan Lundsbakken and Annikken Seip. Liv Hansen has drawn the figures.
