The <strong>AER</strong> Journal is a peer-reviewed member journal that is focused on excellent research that can<br />

be applied in a practical setting. The Journal publishes material <strong>of</strong> interest to people concerned with<br />

services to individuals <strong>of</strong> all ages with visual disabilities, including those who are multiply disabled<br />

<strong>and</strong>/or deafblind. Published submissions include Original Research, Practice Report, Book Review,<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Corner, <strong>and</strong> Conference Proceedings papers.<br />

Original Research papers reflect <strong>the</strong> latest scientific discoveries in <strong>the</strong> fields <strong>of</strong> education <strong>and</strong> rehabilitation<br />

in vision impairment <strong>and</strong> blindness (maximum length: 4,000 words).<br />

Practice Report papers reflect examples <strong>of</strong> best practice in <strong>the</strong> fields <strong>of</strong> education <strong>and</strong> rehabilitation<br />

<strong>of</strong> persons with visual impairments or who are blind. We expect not only academics but also practitioners<br />

to benefit from <strong>the</strong> contents (maximum length: 3,000 words).<br />

Book Review papers are brief reviews <strong>of</strong> recently published books which will include a review <strong>of</strong><br />

both <strong>the</strong> content <strong>and</strong> structure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> book (maximum length: 1,500 words).<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Corner papers are guest articles submitted by an <strong>AER</strong> member about a recent pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

experience or set <strong>of</strong> experiences (maximum length: 1,500 words).<br />

Conference Proceedings are intended to reflect <strong>the</strong> main topics <strong>of</strong> interest from your presentation<br />

or poster given at <strong>the</strong> biennial <strong>AER</strong> International Conference (maximum length: 1,000 words).<br />

Theory Papers/Thought Pieces are papers that have been developed based on historical or content<br />

analysis, research evidence or literature, or evidence-based review (maximum length: 3,000<br />

words).<br />

<strong>Online</strong> Submission: Submit manuscripts online at www.editorialmanager.com/aerjournal; cover letter,<br />

title page <strong>and</strong> abstract, manuscript text, tables, <strong>and</strong> figures must be submitted as separate files.<br />

If your manuscript is accepted, you will need to submit an <strong>AER</strong>J Author Agreement found on <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>AER</strong>J Web site which consists <strong>of</strong> a copyright license <strong>for</strong> articles in <strong>AER</strong> publications.<br />

For style reference in preparing your manuscript, please refer to <strong>the</strong> Publication Manual <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> American<br />

Author Fees: Once a manuscript is accepted <strong>for</strong> publication <strong>and</strong> sent in <strong>for</strong> typesetting, it is expected<br />

to be in its final <strong>for</strong>m. If excessive revisions (more than 5) are made at <strong>the</strong> pro<strong>of</strong> stage, <strong>the</strong><br />

corresponding author will be billed $5.00 (USD) per revision. Figure remakes (replacement figures<br />

or minor figure editing) will be billed as follows: $20.00 (USD) per halftone (grayscale) figure remake,<br />

$15.00 (USD) per line art (black/white) figure remake.
