Daily Minyan Services & “Jewry” Duty
“Jewry Duty” is successful due to your participation; however,
there are still occasions when it is difficult to get a Minyan. As
such, along with your “Jewry Duty,” we ask that you consider
committing to being part of the Minyan for at least one morning
or afternoon per month on a consistent basis. Our Minyan is
expected to be there when someone needs to say Kaddish. We
hope you will consider being there for others. Service times are
on the calendar in each issue of Kolenu, and on the synagogue’s Web site,
www.caiaz.org. Shown below is a combined list of Minyan attendees and those
fulfilling their “Jewry” Duty during October and November 2010.

Social Action Committee
CAI’s Social Action Committee kicked off
Project Hospitality on November 29, 2010 with
the help of Linda Roy and USY, as well as Linda’s
Mah Jongg group.
This community-wide effort to give people
shelter and meals during the winter months
came just in time as temperatures dipped quite
low.
Social Action is in need of volunteers that will
purchase, prepare and serve meals to a group of
homeless men and women at Temple Emanu-
El. Any group of friends or families could take
one night together to help with this worthwhile
cause. Keep in mind: This is a wonderful handson
social action project for your Bar or Bat
Mitzvah.
Congregation Anshei Israel will be
participating on the following nights:
Sundays, January 2 AND 30.
Our responsibility includes a chaperone for the
group on each night (either a volunteer or a
paid position).
On all nights, we meet at Temple Emanu-El at
5:00 pm and serve a hot meal that has been
prepared or purchased for approximately 25
people. A sack lunch and cold breakfast is also
provided for the following day. The meal and
clean-up is usually completed by 6:30 pm. A list
of food items needed is available at the Shalom
Cart and the front desk of the administrative
office.
In addition, we are collecting gently used
MEN’S jackets, sweat shirts, gloves, hats, NEW
socks, blankets, and travel-sized toiletries. Please
bring items to the marked boxes near the CAI
administration office through January.

Social Action Committee Co-chairs
CAI’s Viva Volunteer Program helps our lay leaders by recruiting
volunteers who want to help but may not know how to go about
doing it. Volunteering not only helps our congregation, but it
is a way for our members to meet new friends and become even
more a part of our sacred community. When someone needs
a volunteer, an e-mail is sent to everyone on our volunteer
list. Those who are interested in the project respond to the
