South African Million Dollar Race 2013 Final ... - McLaughlin Lofts

The day after the final race on Sunday Feb 3 rd the top 100 were auctioned. There were some real steals
in this group and as usual the top pigeons brought very high prices. Only a handful of US fanciers placed
bids and Mike Ganus managed to bid live by cell phone through one of his South African friends. Mike
Ganus bought the Race Winner and 2 nd place. The under bidder on the winner was the breeder, Henk
Jurriens the manager of Eijerkamp Racing Pigeons. The winning pigeon had quite the racing record and
was bred from the best of Eijerkamp’s lines. The 2 nd place pigeon was also bought by Mike Ganus and
this pigeon was the Knock Out Winner. Like the winner, 2 nd Place had an amazing racing record. When
the 3 rd place pigeon was being sold Mike was yelling “Go!, Go!” and his friend Jurie hesitated, thinking
he heard no. The gavel fell and Ganus lost the 3 rd place pigeon. A year from now it will be the race
winner remembered.
Mike Ganus also bought the very best pigeons to race in the Million Dollar Race 2012. Mike has to be
very excited to move two years worth of Million Dollar Race superstars to Granger, Indiana.
This season is now a wrap and we must all get ready for the 2013-2014 race season. I will send out my
schedule for exporting or you can check my website for the four export dates starting May 20th. We
have a large group of US and Canadian fanciers traveling over to South Africa in 2014. Please consider
