It seems a very long month since we last wrote the usual auction preamble that
nobody ever reads.Sadly Rob Myers left as a director in November . He decided
not to leave some lots he had supplied for our December sale .We notified all
our inland mailing list but there was insufficient time to write to our overseas
buyers.We hope that you were not too disappointed. We wish Rob all the best.
Of course the auction continues as before, hopefully even better. 2009 is our
10th anniversary of public auctions – the first one was on 11 March 1999 (we
had run postbid sales since1990).If you believe the newspapers we are
supposed to be in a recession but good material is increasingly hard to find.
However we have put together a sale with £220,000 in estimates but even so we
always welcome vendors lots and we are expanding our sections of coins,
postcards, medals, cigarette cards ,football programmes, etc., so over
Christmas and New year please dig out some surplus and use it to buy
something you really want.
Two new things for 2009: we will bring accessories along to each sale or can
post with your lots at 10% discount off normal retail. However, we must know no
later than the Tuesday BEFORE each sale as these have to be ordered .We are
also introducing late lots bring or send to us so that they can be at the sale
room as soon after 12am on sale day, so as to ensure maximum viewing –
payment 7 days after sale day.
Remember we can nearly always supply mixed postage lots at 78% of face in
mixed bags of £50 plus.
We are open throughout the Christmas period apart from 25th and 26th
December and 1st January. May we take the opportunity of wishing all our
clients a happy healthy and prosperous 2009.
