Architectural Collections & Style Guide The Victorian Era The Victorian Era in the Western United States actually encompasses several styles: American Victorian, Queen Anne, Italianate, and others. Many of the famed San Francisco Victorians are actually of the Italianate style. Victorian Era mouldings generally have more detail and complexity, and rely less on the classic Greek and Roman forms. This reflected the zeal and grandeur of the industrial revolution. Industrialization made it possible to produce mouldings with an ever increasing amount of size and complexity. Transportation allowed abundant timber resources to be moved great distances for milling.
