An electric fence system is made up of an electric fencer which creates a regular current pulse, and one or several fence wires, which transport the current and are ground insulated. This insulation is achieved through the use of insulators, which prevent the current from being diverted to the ground. The fourth component of the electric fence system is the grounding device, which should be positioned as deep as possible in preferably damp soil. When an animal touches the wire, an electrical circuit is formed, in other words, the electricity flows through the animal and the ground, back to the device. As a result of this, the animal is given an unpleasant, though completely safe electric shock and moves away. (It is therefore not necessary for the fence wire to form a loop).
