Day 1 Arrive Auckland<br />

Welcome to New Zealand. A <strong>Kirra</strong> <strong>Tours</strong> representative<br />

will greet you at the airport with transport waiting to<br />

take you to your hotel.<br />

Day 2 Auckland/Bay of Islands<br />

Drive north to Paihia in the Bay of Islands. Meet your<br />

local Maori guide who will provide an insight and<br />

history of the Bay of Islands, before a visit to the<br />

birthplace of New Zealand, Waitangi. Here, you will<br />

take a self guided tour through the Treaty House, the<br />

Maori Meeting House and war canoe. This afternoon,<br />

enjoy a launch cruise to the Cape Brett Lighthouse and<br />

‘Hole in the Rock’. (B, D)<br />

Day 3 Bay of Islands<br />

Today is at your leisure. Take the time to relax and<br />

enjoy the beauty of the Bay of Islands. If you want<br />

to take advantage of your time here, your <strong>Coach</strong><br />

Captain will happily assist with arranging activities for<br />

you. Why not try a full day tour to Cape Reinga, New<br />

Zealand’s northern most point and enjoy a drive along<br />

Ninety Mile Beach. Enjoy amazing views and see where<br />

the Tasman Sea collides with the Pacific Ocean. (B, D)<br />

Day 4 Bay of Islands/Auckland<br />

From Paihia, board your <strong>Coach</strong> for the journey south<br />

through Whangarei and Warkworth. Travel via<br />

Matakohe, home of The Kauri Museum. Learn about<br />

the Kauri tree and the history of the region’s early<br />

settlement. Continuing on your journey, Auckland city<br />

and harbour will shortly come into view. (B, D)<br />

Day 5 Auckland/Whangamata<br />

A city tour of Auckland takes in the tallest freestanding<br />

structure in the Southern Hemisphere<br />

at 328m high, Sky Tower, which gives you superb<br />

city views. Then downtown at the Viaduct, you will<br />

experience the thrill of sailing aboard a 15m yacht on<br />

Auckland Harbour, all before heading south to the<br />

Coromandel Peninsula. (B, D)<br />

Day 6 Coromandel Peninsula<br />

Today you will go on an exclusive journey through the<br />

Coromandel region with Kiwi Dundee Adventures.<br />

Explore regenerating Kauri forest, discover the old<br />

roads to Puketui, an 1890s gold mining town and visit<br />

a goldmine studded with glowworms. Walk on isolated<br />

beaches and if conditions permit, take a dip in the<br />

springs at Hotwater Beach. A picnic lunch is included.<br />

Day 7 Whangamata/Rotorua<br />

On to Rotorua today where you visit the Agrodome for<br />

its famous Sheep Show, followed by a scenic Gondola<br />

ride up to the Skyline complex for superb views. Once<br />

at the top, you’ll be treated to a wine tasting and<br />

buffet lunch. The rest of the afternoon is free for you<br />

to enjoy. This evening, take part in a Maori Hangi feast<br />

and concert featuring Maori songs, chants and the<br />

Sudima Lake Rotorua, 1 night<br />

Day 8 Rotorua/Tongariro National Park<br />

This morning visit Te Puia, a geothermal reserve with<br />

boiling mud and silica terraces. It is also home to the<br />

New Zealand Maori Arts & Crafts Institute and the<br />

world famous Pohutu Geyser. After your visit, head<br />

south to the Wairakei Geothermal Valley, visiting<br />

Huka Falls and stopping at Lake Taupo for lunch, New<br />

Zealand’s largest lake, before continuing on your<br />

journey to reach Tongariro National Park, a stunning<br />

Day 9 Tongariro National Park/Wellington<br />

As you travel south, the volcanic mountains –<br />

Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe dominate the<br />

view. Enjoy the scenery as you continue on, heading<br />

over the Rimutakas before reaching the capital city<br />

of Wellington. A city tour includes Mount Victoria,<br />

the Houses of Parliament, Wellington Cathedral and<br />

Oriental Bay, with time afterwards to explore the city<br />

as well as Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand on<br />

Day 10 Wellington/Nelson<br />

Join the early morning Interislander Ferry for the<br />

scenic cruise through the Queen Charlotte Sounds to<br />

Picton. Upon arrival, it’s on to Nelson - a city noted<br />

for its arts and crafts. Here you will visit the World of<br />

Wearable Arts and Classic Cars galleries. (B, D)<br />

Day 11 Nelson or Abel Tasman National<br />

Park<br />

Today is at your leisure. Why not take time to explore<br />

the shops and art galleries which make Nelson famous.<br />

activities for you, including the Abel Tasman Day Tour,<br />

Day 12 Nelson/Hokitika<br />

Travel through the rugged Buller Gorge, visiting<br />

Westport and the coast near Cape Foulwind. Take a<br />

moment to explore the Pancake Rocks and blowholes<br />
