The Scottish Bands’ Contest<br />

19th April 2008<br />

Twenty five bands took part in an excellent day of friendly competition at the Northwood Stadium,<br />

Stoke on Trent on 7th June.<br />

There were many different styles of music and all of the young people gave of their best to provide an entertaining<br />

day for the appreciative audience.<br />

The twenty ninth Scottish Bands’ Contest was once again a very successful<br />

day demonstrating the high standard within Scottish bands.<br />

Chief guest for the day was John Young MBE, Brigade Vice President and<br />

chairman of the Brigade Executive. John was joined in the morning by Provost Winifred<br />

Sloan of South Ayrshire Council and John Scott MSP for the Ayr constituency.<br />
