Hybrid between Russian Olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia) and Silverberry
(Elaeagnus commutata). Selected by Greg Morgenson of Bismark, North
Dakota. Introduced in Canada by Jeffries Nurseries Ltd.

Growth Rate:
Moderate; shows hybrid vigour.

Description:
Medium shrub with weeping growth habit, attractive silver-white foliage.
Produces small silver fruit with inviable seed. Shows reduced suckering
compared to its parent, the native Silverberry

Culture:
Grows best in full sunlight. Silverscape ® will tolerate poor soil and dry
conditions. These properties make it very suitable for shelterbelts and
land reclamation.

Sales Potential:
Silverscape ® represents an attractive choice for highway plantings,

stabilization. Its non-viable seeds will eliminate the problem of
invasiveness that has characterized Russian Olive.
