WASATCH WILDFLOWERS<br />

Tuesday, June 3 rd , 7pm<br />

Following the spring snowmelt on the mountain slopes and meadows of the Central Wasatch<br />

Range, there is a magnificent eruption of brilliant colors from the native plants and flowers.<br />

Dr. Zuckerman's slide presentation will include about seventy of some of the most prevalent<br />

wildflowers that blanket these hills and valleys and the characteristics that distinguish them.<br />

Paul will also discuss the recognition of some flowering invasive and noxious plants and their<br />

proper disposal, as well as photographic tricks & tips to successfully capture wildflower<br />

images.<br />

GPS 101<br />

A Global Positioning System is a fun and accurate tool that can help you navigate through<br />

backcountry terrain or even down city streets. Join REI navigation expert Paul Vernon as he<br />

unveils the mysteries of this fun and fascinating piece of technology. This presentation will<br />

cover an introduction to the GPS system, types of GPS receivers and their common use, and<br />

basic GPS functions. An excellent primer for people who are looking to get started with GPS<br />

use.<br />

WILDLIFE WATCHING YELLOWSTONE PARK<br />

The largest intact temperate ecosystem in the lower 48 states, Yellowstone National Park is one<br />

of the best places to see wolves, bison, bears, elk, coyotes, eagles and other charismatic<br />

animals in their natural habitat. From wolf pups and bison calves in the spring to the elk rut and<br />

raptor migration in the fall, get insider tips on when, where, and how to observe and learn<br />

about the animals that reside in the world’s first national park. Wildlife ecologist and sculptor<br />

George Bumann, M.S. and program manager Jenny Golding from the Yellowstone Association<br />

Institute (YAI) will present a lively multimedia presentation, trip planning information, and<br />

YAI literature. The Yellowstone Association is the official educational partner for Yellowstone<br />

National Park.<br />
