1978<br />
Tom Doyle has recently completed his 4th<br />
Lions/VOSH eyecare mission to Valmiera,<br />
Latvia. He helped head the 22 person trip<br />
which saw 1000 patients in 5.5 days.<br />
He writes, “Please extend my best wishes to<br />
all <strong>of</strong> the Class <strong>of</strong> 1978. I look back fondly on<br />
those years and cannot believe that it has<br />
been 30 years.”<br />
1980<br />
Peter Agnone <strong>of</strong> Grand Blanc has been<br />
appointed by the Governor <strong>of</strong> Michigan to<br />
represent optometrists on the Michigan<br />
Board <strong>of</strong> <strong>Optometry</strong>. His term expires June<br />
30, 2012.<br />
1981<br />
Robert Blumthal <strong>of</strong> Springfield, Ill., was<br />
elected President <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Illinois</strong> Optometric<br />
Association during the IOA Convention in<br />
September 2008.<br />
1982<br />
Thomas Bobst <strong>of</strong> North Olmsted, Ohio, was<br />
elected President <strong>of</strong> the Ohio Optometric<br />
Association during the OOA Congress in<br />
October 2008.<br />
1987<br />

1989<br />
Louise Sclafani <strong>of</strong> Chicago, Ill., was selected<br />
as OD <strong>of</strong> the Year by the <strong>Illinois</strong> Optometric<br />
Association during its September convention.<br />
Dr. Sclafani noted that exactly 10 years ago<br />
she received the Young OD award.<br />
1990<br />
Vince Brandys <strong>of</strong> Streamwood, Ill., was chosen<br />
as Keyperson <strong>of</strong> the Year by the <strong>Illinois</strong><br />
Optometric Association during its convention<br />
in September.<br />
Lori L. Grover was elected Chair <strong>of</strong> the<br />
AOA Low Vision Rehabilitation Section.<br />
1995<br />
Kristin K. Anderson <strong>of</strong> Memphis, Tenn., an<br />
associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor at Southern <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Optometry</strong>, was recently named Vice<br />
President for Institutional Advancement. Dr.<br />
Anderson previously served as Director <strong>of</strong><br />
Continuing Education as well as Chief <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Low Vision and Rehabilitation Services at<br />
SCO.<br />
2000<br />
Mamie Chan and her husband, Gordon<br />
Cottrill, welcomed Sabina Mei-Oi Cottrill on<br />
October 16, 2008. Mamie writes that,<br />
“Everything is great!”<br />
2003<br />
Raman Gill and Sukh Takher (’04) are proud<br />
to announce the arrival <strong>of</strong> a beautiful baby<br />
girl, Samiya K. Takher, this August.<br />
2004<br />
Diane Nhan has opened a branch <strong>of</strong> Texas<br />
State Optical. A therapeutic optometrist, she<br />
and her family escaped communist Vietnam<br />
when she was in seventh grade.<br />

Deana LaBrosse <strong>of</strong> Evanston, Ill., was chosen<br />
as Young OD <strong>of</strong> the Year by the <strong>Illinois</strong><br />
