COLTS NOTES
OPENING ACT
PIERRE PRODUCES
In quarterback Dan Orlovsky’s first start as a member of the
Colts (Week 13 at New England), the veteran set a careerhigh
and Colts season-high with 353 passing yards on 30-
of-37 passing. His passing yardage total was the most
since Peyton Manning threw for 365 yards on December 5,
2010 against Dallas. Orlovsky also finished with a 113.2
passer rating, which is the second-highest mark this season
behind Curtis Painter’s 115.8 rating against Kansas City.
Having completed 30-of-37 passes against the Patriots,
Orlovsky totaled an 81.1 completion percentage, which is
the ninth-highest mark in franchise history and the highest
total since October 11, 2009 when Peyton Manning finished
with an 81.8 completion percentage against Tennessee.
On Indianapolis’ second offensive possession of the game,
Orlovsky drove the team 67 yards in 19 plays, which led to
an Adam Vinatieri field goal. On the drive, Orlovsky converted
four-of-five third down attempts. He opened the contest
having completed his first seven pass attempts for 73
yards and posted another stretch of seven consecutive
passes between the third and fourth quarters.
Orlovsky finished the game having competed passes to
eight different receivers, a season-high for the Colts this
season. The previous high was seven different receivers
logged five times this year with the last coming against the
Carolina Panthers on November 27.
TEAM HIGHS
Against the Patriots in Week 13, the Colts converted 10-of-
15 third down attempts (67 percent), marking the team’s
best third down conversion percentage in a game this season.
Along with a season-high 353 passing yards, Indianapolis
registered a season-high in total offense with 437
yards and tied a season-high in points (24 vs. Kansas City
on October 9). The Colts scored touchdowns in three of
their last four possessions of the game, totaling 21 fourth
quarter points, which is the highest total in any quarter for
the team this year. The Colts also registered its highest time
of possession this season at 35:39.
SUSTAINING DRIVES
On the Colts’ second offensive possession in a Week 13
contest at New England, the team compiled a 19-play, 67-
yard drive that resulted in a field goal. The drive is the
longest for Indianapolis since October 8, 2000 when the
team posted a 22-play drive against New England. The
Colts notched their second drive of 15 or more plays in the
second half (15 plays), which was capped by a Donald
Brown rushing touchdown and added an 11-play drive in
the fourth quarter resulting in a Pierre Garcon touchdown.
Wide receiver Pierre Garcon led the
team and set career highs in receiving
yards (150) and receptions
(nine) in a Week 13 contest at New
England. He also added two touchdowns
and long receptions of 33
and 40 yards. Garcon’s total signified
his third 100-yard receiving
contest and third multiple-touchdown
game this season. He also
topped 100 yards and two touchdowns
in back-to-back weeks against Tampa Bay (Week 4)
and Kansas City (Week 5).
Garcon currently leads the team in receiving with 55 receptions
for 805 yards (14.6 avg.) and six touchdowns. He has
already established a new career-high in receiving yards,
topping his previous total of 784 last season. Garcon’s 14.6
average is on pace to finish as a career-high while his six
touchdowns tie his career-best and his 55 receptions are
just short of his personal-high (67 in 2010).
Pierre Garcon scores one of his
two touchdowns against Tampa
Bay in Week 4.
In a Week 4 contest at Tampa
Bay, Garcon logged 146 receiving
yards on two receptions
while adding two
touchdowns. Included in his
receiving high was an 87-yard
touchdown reception from
Curtis Painter in the second
quarter, which was the
longest catch of his career.
Garcon also contributed with
a 59-yard touchdown in the
third quarter. He became the
sixth Colts player in team history
with two 50-plus-yard touchdowns in the same game,
joining Lenny Moore, Raymond Berry, Roger Carr, Marvin
Harrison and Dominic Rhodes, with Harrison, Carr and
Berry being the only ones to do it in the same contest via
scoring receptions.
The following week against Kansas City (Week 5), Garcon
led the team in receiving for the second consecutive game
with five receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Included
in his receiving total against the Chiefs was a 67-
yard touchdown, marking the second longest catch of his
career. This season, Garcon has totaled nine catches of
20-plus yards. He has also posted three of his four longest
receptions this year.
