CLEVELAND 38, INDIANAPOLIS 21 – Attendance 79,838. The Colts<br />
and Browns traded first half touchdowns before Cleveland seized control<br />
with 17 unanswered second-half points on the way to a 38-21 win.<br />
Cleveland held a slight edge (404-315) in net yards, and held running<br />
back Eric Dickerson to 50 yards on 15 rushes. Bernie Kosar was 20-of-31<br />
for 229 yards and three scores, while Jack Trudeau hit 21-of-33 tosses<br />

INDIANAPOLIS 35, SAN DIEGO 20 – Attendance 61,182. The Colts<br />
posted their first playoff win since 1971 as Jim Harbaugh tossed two<br />
scoring passes and ran for a touchdown, while rookie Zack Crockett set a<br />
club playoff rushing mark with 147 yards on 13 carries. The Colts made<br />
the sixth lead change of the game stand when Harbaugh hit Sean Dawkins<br />
on a 42t pass late in the third quarter. Crockett, who tallied on a 33t firsthalf<br />
rush, burst a 66t dash in the final quarter to decide the outcome. The<br />
Colts intercepted Stan Humphries four times. Crockett was one of 12<br />
Colts not born when the team last won a playoff game.<br />

INDIANAPOLIS 10, KANSAS CITY 7 – Attendance 77,594. The Colts<br />
topped the AFC top-seeded Chiefs, 10-7, when Lin Elliott’s 42-yard field<br />
goal was wide left with :37 remaining. Jim Harbaugh guided the club on<br />
a marathon 18-play, 77-yard second-quarter march to tie the contest with<br />
a 5t toss to Floyd Turner. The Colts pirated three Kansas City passes, one<br />
by Ashley Ambrose that set up a 30-yard Cary Blanchard third-quarter<br />
field goal. Fourth-quarter interceptions by Quentin Coryatt and Eugene<br />
Daniel helped spoil the Chiefs’ 8-0 home mark. The game was played<br />
in 11-degree weather with a wind chill of -9 degrees. The win tied Ted<br />
Marchibroda with Don Shula as the winningest head coach in club history.<br />

PITTSBURGH 20, INDIANAPOLIS 16 – Attendance 61,062. In one of<br />
the most compelling AFC Championship Games, the Colts’ title bid ended<br />
when a Jim Harbaugh desperation end zone pass at the gun eluded the<br />
grasp of Aaron Bailey. The game stood 13-9 in Pittsburgh’s favor in the<br />
final quarter when Harbaugh hit Floyd Turner on a 47t strike with 8:46<br />
to go. Unable to run out the clock, the Colts punted to Pittsburgh with<br />
3:03 remaining. Neil O’Donnell teamed with Ernie Mills on a 37-yard<br />
pass to the Colts’ one, where Bam Morris tallied with 1:34 left. Harbaugh<br />
marched the Colts from their 15 to the Steelers’ 29 with :05 left before<br />
his final pass fell incomplete.<br />

PITTSBURGH 42, INDIANAPOLIS 14 – Attendance 58,078. Pittsburgh<br />
rushed for 231 yards and five touchdowns to eliminate the Colts from the<br />
playoffs, 42-14. Eugene Daniel’s 59t interception return and Aaron Bailey’s<br />
9t reception from Jim Harbaugh (12-32-134, 1 TD/INT.) gave the Colts a<br />
14-13 halftime lead. Pittsburgh exploited Indianapolis on the ground, rolling to<br />
a 190-yard advantage. The game turned in the third quarter with a 91-yard TD<br />
drive by Pittsburgh. The Steelers tallied 21 points in the final quarter. It was the<br />
first time the Colts made the playoffs in consecutive seasons since 1975-77.<br />

TENNESSEE 19, INDIANAPOLIS 16 – Attendance 57,097. A 9-6 field<br />
goal struggle through 30 minutes turned to Tennessee’s advantage early<br />
in the third period on RB-Eddie George’s (26-162, 1 TD) 68t rush. The<br />
Titans pushed the count to 19-9 on four K-Al Del Greco field goals, while<br />
the Colts were held in check on offense. QB-Peyton Manning (19-43-227)<br />
scored on a 15t rush with 1:51 left, but the Colts could threaten no further.<br />
The Colts were out-rushed 197-78, and Manning was under pass rush<br />
pressure throughout the game. This was the club’s first playoff game as<br />
hosts since 1977.<br />

MIAMI 23, INDIANAPOLIS 17 – Attendance 73,193. Indianapolis surrendered<br />
a 14-0 lead in dropping a 23-17 overtime decision at Miami.<br />
K-Mike Vanderjagt hit field goals of 32, 26 and 50 yards, but missed<br />
from 49 yards 5:44 into overtime. QB-Peyton Manning was 17-32-194,<br />
1 TD and RB-Edgerrin James was 21-107 rushing, but the Colts’ defense<br />
yielded 258 rushing yards. RB-Lamar Smith’s (40-209, 2 TDs) 17t rush<br />
11:26 into overtime decided the contest.<br />

Jets bolted to a 24-0 halftime lead and added 17 second-half points<br />
to post a 41-0 win. QB-Chad Pennington (19-25-222, 3 TDs) hit three<br />
scoring passes, while RB-LaMont Jordan was 20-102, 2 TDs. QB-Peyton<br />
Manning was 14-31-137, 2 INTS., while the Colts rushed 14-52.<br />
WR-Marvin Harrison was 4-47 receiving.<br />

INDIANAPOLIS 41, DENVER 10 – Attendance 56,586. The Colts scored<br />
on their first seven possessions behind QB-Peyton Manning (22-26-377,<br />
5 TDs) to post the franchise’s first home playoff win since 1971. Manning<br />
set the club playoff record for TD passes. He teamed with WRs-Marvin<br />
Harrison (46t, 23t) and Brandon Stokley (31t, 87t) on scoring plays. The<br />
Colts scored 31 first-half points to spur the win.<br />
