Friday 25 May<br />
7.30pm | Village Hall | Screen on the Green Fifties Movie Night<br />
The 1958 classic film ‘Some Like It Hot’ (PG) starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony<br />
Curtis and Jack Lemmon, listed by the American Film Institute as the Greatest<br />
American Comedy of All Time. Free tickets for this special screening available<br />
at the Village Store or The Red Lion from Monday 7 May (up to 4 per person).<br />
Saturday 26 May & Sunday 27 May<br />
2–6pm | Ilmington Manor | ‘The Fifties, Ilmington Remembers’<br />
Courtesy of Mr. Martin Taylor. The Manor opens its doors to a trip down<br />
memory lane for a fun exhibition of Ilmington’s very own treasure trove of<br />
1950s memorabilia. Come and see the Hornby Dublo in action, the frock that<br />
went to Buckingham Palace plus much more besides! Suitable for all ages.<br />
Thursday 31 May<br />
7.30pm | Village Hall | ‘Magic Moments’<br />
Opening night of our Community Play written by Mark Currey and starring a<br />
village cast who will whisk you back to the vintage days of the 1950s. Based<br />
on the memories of those who lived here sixty years’ ago and featuring popular<br />
live music and radio of the era. Free tickets (maximum four per household)<br />
available at the Village Store from Monday 14 May.<br />
Friday 1 June<br />
1.30pm | Ilmington School | May Day Celebrations<br />
Join the traditional festivities as the children perform the time honoured dances<br />
and ceremony of Ilmington May Day and the crowning of the May Queen.<br />
7.30pm | Village Hall | ‘Magic Moments’<br />
Promising you a night to remember at this second performance of our<br />
Community Play. Featuring a host of familiar faces recreating the days when<br />
HM The Queen came to the throne. Book your free tickets at the Village Store<br />
from Monday 14 May.<br />
Saturday 2 June<br />
2–6pm | Ilmington Manor | ‘The Fifties, Ilmington Remembers’<br />
Another chance to enjoy this special Jubilee exhibition of village memorabilia.<br />
Spot the Fifties babies and brides, the shoe that met Victor Sylvester and the<br />
designs that wowed the world of fashion! A chance to see what the children of<br />
Ilmington primary school think about the Fifties too.<br />
2pm | The Playing Fields | Veterans Football Match<br />
The beautiful game provides an afternoon of entertainment.<br />
7pm | The Howard Arms | Live Music<br />
Enjoy the band in the garden (weather permitting). Pimms tent available.<br />
7.30pm | Village Hall | ‘Magic Moments’<br />
Last night of the Ilmington Jubilee play, with tales of privies and pig sticking,<br />
dansettes and motorbikes, stilettos and Brylcream. Time travel back to the<br />
Fifties as the cast reenacts life in the days when ‘we’d never had it so good.’<br />
Free tickets (maximum four per household) available at the Village Store<br />
from Monday 14 May.<br />
Sunday 3 June<br />
11am | St Mary’s Church | Jubilee Service<br />
Led by the Reverend Chris Goble with the Ilmington Festival Choir.<br />
1–5pm | Front Street | The Big Lunch<br />
Join communities across the UK for this special celebratory street party, with<br />
tables from Lower Green to Washbrook Place. Bring your own food and drink.<br />
2–6pm | Ilmington Manor | ‘The Fifties, Ilmington Remembers’<br />
Who not wander up to the Manor for an intriguing tour of our Jubilee<br />
exhibition? View the vintage tractor, meet Muffin the mule and play spot<br />
the schoolboy!<br />
7.30pm | The Red Lion | Karaoke Evening<br />
Sing along to some chart topping favourites from the past in the cosy<br />
atmosphere of Percy’s bar.<br />
7pm | The Playing Fields | Proms in the Park<br />
Bring your own food or enjoy the pig roast at this evening of music from the<br />
AD Concert Band, fireworks and disco.<br />

Games and events for all children aged 16 and under. Bring a plate of food<br />
per child for tea at 2pm. There will be a commemorative Diamond Jubilee<br />
mug for every child.<br />
2–6pm | Ilmington Manor | ‘The Fifties, Ilmington Remembers’<br />
Pay a Bank Holiday visit to this unique display of vintage 1950s treasures<br />
from village lofts and attics in its special historic setting.<br />
7.30–10pm | Village Hall | The Jubilee Fifties Dance<br />
A night of fun creating the dances of old and featuring the sounds of Victor<br />
Sylvester, our live skiffle group, Fifties singers and rock n’ roll band. Fifties<br />
dress preferred! All welcome.<br />
10–10.30pm | Foxcote Hill | The Jubilee Beacon and Parade<br />
Courtesy of the Foxcote Estate. Join the lighting of the beacon followed by<br />
a torchlight procession back into and around the village.<br />
bank holiday Tuesday 5 June<br />
From 2pm | The Playing Fields | Family Fun Afternoon<br />
Time for Family games, the judging of the scarecrow competition and the<br />
Parade of former May Queens. Come and join the fun; prizes to be won!<br />

Your last chance to visit this special Jubilee exhibition. Remember<br />
Meccano, Dan Dare and National Service? Then this is for you!<br />

Ilmington has a long tradition of celebrating Coronations and Jubilees; HM<br />
The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is no exception. We hope that you, your<br />
friends, neighbours and families will find plenty in this exciting programme<br />
of village events that you will want to support.<br />
