SHREWSBURY THEATRE SEVERN

is a brand new 1960s musical play
for Shrewsbury and Shropshire based
on the stories of workers at the world famous swimsuit
and underwear company.
Silhouette’s main factory was in
Harlescott (by the level crossing)
with additional output in Market
Drayton and Whitchurch.
It was a major supplier to Marks &
Spencer, sold its underwear in 61
countries and was the largest
swimwear producer in Britain.
And it all happened right here in
Shropshire!
The show also reflects local
and world events from The
Beatles playing The Granada to
Man landing on the Moon – and
explores social changes such as
the advent of the contraceptive
pill and the devastating effect of
the arrival of tights!
