Thriller, thriller night<br />

Pumpkins, bikes, treats, ghosts and Dr Frank-N-Furter<br />

FOR KIDS • Ghosts and goblins will be<br />

knocking on doors and ringing bells as<br />

soon as darkness falls on Halloween night.<br />

Pumpkins will be carved, Halloween bike<br />

rides held and houses decorated as trickor-treaters<br />

get into the October 31 spirit.<br />

Some folks get into Halloween in a big<br />

way when it comes to decorating their<br />

homes. There are homes on Maple Avenue<br />

in The Townsite that had more than<br />

200 trick-or-treaters last year!<br />

FOR EVERYONE: If you want to take a<br />

look at some great pumpkin carving check<br />

out Pumpkinfest at the Town Centre Mall<br />

from 11 am to 3 pm on October 26. Local<br />

celebrity Bill Hopkins of SUN-FM started<br />

the event several years ago and it continues<br />

to be a Halloween favourite.<br />

Bill says you can carve your pumpkin in<br />

advance and drop it off to be judged or<br />

carve your pumpkin on site. Pumpkins<br />

are judged and prizes awarded. This<br />

event is free to enter.<br />

Save-On-Foods has donated the pumpkins<br />

free of charge every year since it began,<br />

says Bill. “Nick and the guys from<br />

produce have been fabulous with picking<br />

out the best bins for us and pushing them<br />

up through the mall.”<br />

For the past several years businesses and<br />

schools have entered pumpkins. “Some<br />

of the best have been from SD 47’s cosmetology<br />

students.”<br />

FOR EVERYONE: A family Halloween bike<br />

ride around Inland Lake will begin at 3 pm<br />

on Saturday, October 26. Bring your bikes<br />

and costumes. Treats for the kids. For more<br />

FOR EVERYONE: On October 31st, Brooks<br />

Secondary School and Rotary will be<br />

holding a haunted house upstairs at the<br />

Carlson Club.<br />

FOR ADULTS: Strap on your stockings<br />

and tease up your hair — the Rocky Horror<br />

Picture Show is coming to the Patricia<br />

on Halloween night, thanks to the<br />

Powell River Film Festival Society. The<br />

classic film, rated 18A, plays at 9:30 and<br />

midnight, of course. Tickets are $20, and<br />

available at the Theatre, at Ecossentials<br />

and Breakwater Books. Costumes and<br />

fancy dress optional, but preferred.<br />
