It is fair to say that the 2010
Census confirmed what we have known
for quite some time – AllianceTexas has
matured into a thriving and vibrant
community, and is the leading reason
why Fort Worth is the fastest-growing
large city in the United States.
With nearly half a million residents
and more than 260 of the world’s leading
companies calling the region home,
AllianceTexas has now created a sizeable
$38.5 billion in economic impact over
the project’s 22-year history.
AllianceTexas is poised for even
bigger impact. This fall, one of the
world’s premier corporate training
centers, Deloitte University, will open
in the Circle T Ranch. The $300 million,
over 700,000-square-foot campus will be
home to nearly 500 employees, and will
host Deloitte personnel from around
the world. Deloitte University will
not only be a spectacular corporate
training campus, it will also be one
of the leading hospitality locations
in the Southwest, and will keep area
restaurants and entertainment venues
filled throughout the year.
Alliance Town Center also continues
to exceed market expectations with
significant openings for new shopping
and dining over the past year, including
Kroger Marketplace, BJ’s Brewhouse,
Olive Garden, Rooms To Go, Chickfil-A,
JoS.A.Bank, Kirkland’s and more.
New shopping and dining on the
horizon include James Avery, Mi Cocina
and Baker Bros. to name a few. In just
eight years, Alliance Town Center has
grown from a taxable base of $1.28
million to more than $162 million – a
staggering figure.
In the year ahead, the Hillwood team
will focus on ensuring that our regional
infrastructure meets the demands of our
community and businesses. For example,
during the 82 nd Legislature, the 35W
Coalition spent a significant amount of
time working with our elected leaders
in Austin to keep the I-35W portion of
the North Tarrant Express project on
track. This vital project will continue
to move forward, and we’re working
diligently to ensure that mobility
in our region remains a top priority
for lawmakers.
In addition, substantial work has
been achieved in extending the runway
of Fort Worth Alliance Airport to 11,000
feet. Both FM 156 and BNSF Railway’s
rail line needed to be relocated in order
to extend the runway. The new FM 156 is
now open and efforts to move the rail line
have begun.
When contemplating the growth of
the past few years, it may be surprising
to some that we’ve only developed
40 percent of available property at
AllianceTexas. Our challenge is to
continue to build upon the success of
the last two decades, and make one of
the finest public-private partnerships in
the nation even better. n
