UDT ASIA CONFERENCE PROGRAMME WELCOME UDT Asia 2016 UDT Asia, taking place on 19-20 January 2016, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, is a two day conference focussing on the latest innovations, challenges and future requirements of the Undersea Defence sector, to an expected audience of 250 senior military personnel and industry leaders. WHY ATTEND? This conference has been built to address the needs of military, industry and academia based in the region. The programme will feature keynote presentations from senior Naval personnel delivering perspectives from across the region. These sessions will be complemented by cutting edge papers prepared by those at the forefront of undersea defence development and those within the industry that are developing the next generation of defence systems. BACKGROUND Asia is in the midst of a new era of military modernisation with submarines at the forefront of this proliferation of new military capability. With these new procurements comes a set of unique challenges for the region, ranging from the increasing risk of submarine-related incidents and the need for enhanced maritime cooperation, to the broader geo-strategic implications of submarine operations in the Asia-Pacific. As a result, the underwater domain and the various facets that reflect the subsea defence sector have an important role to play in addressing the challenges and shaping the opportunities for the region.
