Dear Colleagues,<br />
On behalf of the American Bar Association Section of International Law<br />
(the “Section”), we are pleased to welcome you to Montréal, Québec for<br />
what promises to be a very memorable Fall Meeting. For those of you from<br />
Montréal, ne manquez pas cet événement mémorable!<br />
While you are in Montréal, please be sure to participate in all the amazing<br />
programs and events the Fall Meeting has to offer. We are excited to<br />
open the Fall Meeting with a joint reception at the conference hotel<br />
the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth with the Canadian Bar Association,<br />
Barreau du Québec and Montréal Bar. Other featured events include<br />
Tuesday’s Hospitality Night (ticketed), providing attendees with a unique<br />
opportunity to personally get to know the Montréal legal community, a<br />
5km Fun Run on Wednesday morning (ticketed), a reception at 8Queen<br />
for a “casual” evening (jeans are acceptable attire) featuring Molson beer<br />
and local Montréal food (transportation provided), live performances at<br />
Dalhousie Station, the headquarters of Cirque Éloize on Thursday evening<br />
(transportation provided), and the Chair’s Closing Reception on Friday at<br />
The Belvedere at the Montréal Science Centre out on the pier with great<br />
views of Old Montréal (transportation provided). Of course, there is also<br />
the After-Hours event on Friday.<br />
In addition to incredible networking opportunities, the Fall Meeting will<br />
feature more than 65 panels highlighting different aspects of the theme<br />
of the conference – “Globalization and the Importance of Law, Language<br />
and Culture.” These panels will feature speakers from around the world<br />
on a variety of topics. In addition, for those of you needing ethics credit,<br />
programs requested for ethics CLE are noted in the following pages. We<br />
are also excited to hear from our exceptional luncheon speakers the Right<br />
Honourable M. Brian Mulroney, former Prime Minister of Canada and<br />
the Chief Justice of Canada, the Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin.<br />
The Section’s 60+ committees are its true heart and will be front and center<br />
at this Meeting. Committees will have many opportunities to meet giving<br />
all attendees a chance to visit with one or more committees – whether you<br />
are an existing member of the committee or are just exploring! There will<br />
be committee dinners organized by the committees after the reception on<br />
