Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the American Bar Association Section of International Law
While you are in Montréal, please be sure to participate in all the amazing
open the Fall Meeting with a joint reception at the conference hotel
the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth with the Canadian Bar Association,
Barreau du Québec and Montréal Bar. Other featured events include
Tuesday’s Hospitality Night (ticketed), providing attendees with a unique
opportunity to personally get to know the Montréal legal community, a
5km Fun Run on Wednesday morning (ticketed), a reception at 8Queen
for a “casual” evening (jeans are acceptable attire) featuring Molson beer
and local Montréal food (transportation provided), live performances at
Dalhousie Station, the headquarters of Cirque Éloize on Thursday evening
(transportation provided), and the Chair’s Closing Reception on Friday at
The Belvedere at the Montréal Science Centre out on the pier with great
views of Old Montréal (transportation provided). Of course, there is also
the After-Hours event on Friday.
In addition to incredible networking opportunities, the Fall Meeting will
feature more than 65 panels highlighting different aspects of the theme
of the conference – “Globalization and the Importance of Law, Language
and Culture.” These panels will feature speakers from around the world
on a variety of topics. In addition, for those of you needing ethics credit,
programs requested for ethics CLE are noted in the following pages. We
are also excited to hear from our exceptional luncheon speakers the Right
Honourable M. Brian Mulroney, former Prime Minister of Canada and
the Chief Justice of Canada, the Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin.
The Section’s 60+ committees are its true heart and will be front and center
at this Meeting. Committees will have many opportunities to meet giving
all attendees a chance to visit with one or more committees – whether you
are an existing member of the committee or are just exploring! There will
be committee dinners organized by the committees after the reception on
