Mapula is a very firm believer
and before she could even think
about taking up the position
of a CEO of a community
based project, she had always
declared words of faith in
that aspect. The idea of being
a CEO along with her CO-
CEO Zach was incorporated
into their curriculum at
school to apply what they
have learnt in their theoretical
learning programmes. Lonehill
implemented a contest for all
the business classes of Grade
10 on creating a sustainable
recycling program for
Crawford.
One of the reasons she chose history is
because she indulges in reading the good old
books in 1400, Shakespearean or Scottish
books, basically historical romances though
she explained that she also reads fictional
books out of interest. One of the few books
she read was Divergent by Veronica Roth,
with a sarcastic voice she shrugged and said:
“terrible book itself, but the movies make it
look so much better… the movie got praised
so much that I got excited before reading the
book.”
The notion behind the
concept was also to give the
students the platform to
showcase their capabilities
and their knowledge within
the business industry, as such
they also received funding
marketing operations and
financial parts written and also
implementation plan in place
on how the school can also
reduce the costing on waste
disposal, but also reduce their
carbon footprint. The winner
of the project will not only get
recognition from Crawford
Lonehill but also receive
funding in implementing the
plan by ADVTECH which is a
JSE registered company.
