Re the second point of AOB, it was noted that in light of J. Bennison’s illness this point
would need to be looked at by somebody else.
6. Correspondence: Since the last ordinary WMOA meeting information had been received
about the Club/ Association Conference. R. Brandon, R. Dredge, B. Elkington and J.
Woodall reported that they would be attending in various capacities.
7. Chairman’s Report:
Thank you all for coming along tonight. The Committee have met 4 times in the past 12
months, providing a valuable opportunity for discussion between the clubs within the
region. Thanks are due to all who have come along and taken part, in particular to Delia
Kingsbury, our Secretary. Delia sets up the meetings and acts as scribe producing an
accurate and precise account of what has been discussed.
Barry McGowan: our Treasurer. Barry continues to keep the books in order, balancing
the incoming event levies to our outgoing, principally to support our juniors and the Junior
Squad.
Ray Collins: our Vice-Chairman. Ray makes sure the meetings start on time.
Allan Williams has been looking after the fixtures for some time. He has a hard working
group of Club Fixtures Secretaries feeding into a Regional plan. Allan in turn feeds this
cunning plan into the National list. It is good to observe how, when any event has to be
rearranged for whatever reason, Allan’s group are always so helpful in accommodating a
solution. Allan’s report will highlight the events taken place and those in the future. I will
not repeat the list here, but will say that the programme of events could not take place
without a lot of work by a lot of people - thank you people.
Mel Elkington has been looking after the WMOA Junior Squad for several years,
ensuring that each year the juniors have had experience of terrain far beyond the West
Midlands regional boundary. A special thanks to Mel, who is to step down from the role. It
is pleasing that former Squad member Sarah Dredge has offered to take over from Mel.
I am sure that each Club in the region will be able to provide Sarah with the support that
she and the Squad requires.
Rod Postlethwaite has resurrected the regional Newsletter in an electronic form. His four
editions in the year have provided an opportunity to document and circulate information in
