JANE FONDA<br />

The Los Angeles <strong>LGBT</strong> Center will<br />

honor Academy Award-winning<br />

actress Jane Fonda at the LA <strong>LGBT</strong><br />

Center’s 46th Anniversary Vanguard<br />

Award gala on November 7. Fonda<br />

will receive her award from Lily<br />

Tomlin, her co-star in the Netflix<br />

series “Grace and Frankie.” Actress<br />

Frances McDormand will also be at<br />

the gala to present an award to screenwriter Ron Nyswaner—a<br />

gay writer, producer, documentary filmmaker, activist and pioneer<br />

in <strong>LGBT</strong>-related films. The fundraiser will take place at the Hyatt<br />

Regency Century Plaza hotel.<br />

Archbishop Rev. Carl Bean will<br />

receive an award of distinction<br />

from the San Diego Human<br />

Dignity Foundation (SDHDF) at the<br />

upcoming Aston-Brooks Gala on November 7. Archbishop Bean<br />

is the third and final honoree who has been selected to receive<br />

the Sunshine Brooks HIV/AIDS Advocacy Award. “Archbishop<br />

Bean has taken adversity and created inspiration for the disenfranchised,”<br />

said John L. Brown, SDHDF executive director in a press<br />

release. “He knows first-hand the struggle and heartache people<br />

of color who live with HIV/AIDS experience and has created a<br />

safe, welcoming religious space so they feel loved and accepted.”<br />

The City of West Hollywood<br />

held a Transgender Job Fair<br />

last month in collaboration with the<br />

L.A. <strong>LGBT</strong> Center. The job fair was<br />

an effort to connect transgender<br />

women and men with employment<br />

resources and opportunities, as<br />

well as offer services to help transgender<br />

women and men develop professional skills, find employment<br />

with trans-friendly employers, and thrive in the workplace.<br />
