Marcin Narloch, BA, CISI, MSc, MCP, MSTA, MFTA
Marcin Narloch, BA, CISI, MSc, MCP, MSTA, MFTA, is
a technical analyst who has been involved in the
financial markets since 2009 in the capacity of a
private individual. He is currently shares his
experiences on his personal blog, Technical
Analysis of Financial Markets (http://
marcinnarloch.com), covering analysis of shares,
commodities, FX, bonds, and indexes. However,
ever since Mr. Narloch acquired master’s degree in investment banking
and securities in 2013, his true passion and main focus has been on
share analysis from both the technical and fundamental sides. Being a
computer programmer for over 10 years, Mr. Narloch realised he could
combine his programming skills with his passion for the financial
markets. In his early career in Web development, he came across
Search Engine Optimisation, which provided him with invaluable
insights into peoples’ behaviours on the Internet. That led him to
development of technical analysis strategies utilising Google search
volumes and stock prices and volumes. This development culminated
in a proposal of a unique technical analysis indicator as part of his
most recent research paper for IFTA and earned him the MFTA
designation in 2014.
Andreas Platen
Andreas Platen obtained his master’s degree in
mathematics at RWTH Aachen University in 2012.
In addition to his interest in numerical
mathematics, he started to explore the field of
quantitative finance in 2010. In his research, he
focused on the design of mechanical trading
systems and studied technical analysis questions
empirically. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student under
the supervision of Professor Maier-Paape and mainly works on risk
measures and money management.
Russell Shor, CFTe, MFTA
Russell Shor graduated with honours in economics
from the University of South Africa. He has worked
at various companies, including Macquarie Bank
and Thomson Reuters. He is a private trader and
makes all his investing and trading decisions based
on technical signals. A stockbroker friend
introduced him to technical analysis many years
ago, and he has been hooked ever since. He is
particularly interested in intermarket relationships, the economics
thereof, and the psychology of the various market participants.
Recently, his preference has moved away from a discretionary-based
methodology to a more defined quantitative based system.
