1. There lives in Austria a <strong>Christmas</strong> devil – Krampus – who is said<br />
to beat naughty children with branches.<br />

5. Venezuelans living in Caracass attend Mass in the run-up to<br />

6. At <strong>Christmas</strong> time Greenlanders eat Kiviak, a dish of 500 dead<br />
auk birds stuffed into a seal skin and left to ferment for seven<br />
months. Yumm.<br />
7. Ukrainians decided to toss the tinsel and baubles and decorate<br />
their <strong>Christmas</strong> trees with artificial spiders and web.<br />
8. Some South Africans eat deep fried Mopani worms over<br />
<strong>Christmas</strong>. Only a hint of tomato sauce allowed...<br />
9. Some Welsh villages perform Mari Lwyd on <strong>Christmas</strong> Eve. A<br />
villager is chosen to parade through the streets carrying the skull<br />
of a mare on the end of a stick.<br />
10. The Yule Cat, which dwells in Icelandic Hills, will devour you if<br />
you don’t get new clothes before <strong>Christmas</strong> Eve. Or so it is said...<br />
11. In Italy children don’t get their gifts from Santa Claus. A friendly<br />
witch called Befana brings them toys on the fifth of january<br />
12. The Canadian postal service recognises the address Santa<br />
Claus, North Pole, Canada, H0H 0H0 and reply to all letters<br />
addressed as such.<br />
13. Christians in India make up either banana or mango trees as<br />
the traditional fir tree doesn’t take to kindly to the Indian climate.<br />
