Secret Santa
Here’s a Santa with a surprise, it
has sweets in it. It’s easy to make
this decoration for the mantlepiece
or put him on the tree
You will need:
Toilet roll cardboard tube, red
card or paint, white paper, glue
stick, black felt tip pen, scissors, a
small cotton wool ball and some
sweets.
How to:
1. Cut the red card to a size that covers the toilet roll tube.
2. Wrap the red card around the tube and stick it down with glue, or you can just
paint the tube red.
3. Press the two sides of the tube down to meet together at one end and then fold
the corners out to make Santa’s boots.
4. Cut out a triangle from the white paper to make Santa’s face and beard.
5. Stick the triangle on the front of the roll.
6. Draw the face, beard, arms, belt and boots using the black felt tip.
7. Stick on the cotton wool ball to finish Santa’s hat.
8. Put sweets inside and push the top closed.

Vary your designs to
make truly unique tags.
Use white card with
black buttons and
orange triangles for a
snowman theme.
Painted Pine Cones
A simple decoration for
Christmas, enjoy a family walk
to collect some pine cones, give
them some festive colour and
display on the mantel piece or in
a bowl with some potpourri
You will need: Pine cones,
acrylic or gloss paint, a paint
brush.
Santa Suit Gift Tags
Simple but effective tags that are sure to make your gifts stand
out with a personal touch
You will need: Red card, scissors, ring pulls from drinks
cans, black card, glue, pompoms and glitter.
How to:
1. Take your red card and cut out tag shapes, they can be
circles, squares or rectangles.
2. Cut a strip from the black card that is long enough to
stretch across the tag.
3. Trim the width of the black strip and thread it through the
ring pull holes to make Santa’s belt.
4. Glue the belt to the centre of the tag .
5. Use a pompom to represent part of Santa’s hat or glitter
to make festive buttons.
6. Punch a hole in the top of your tag and tie on some string
or ribbon.
How to:
1. Collect pine cones.
2. Dry them in an oven at a low
temperature until they open.
3. Leave to cool and shake them
to remove dust and seeds.
4. Hold the cone by its stalk and
paint the tips.
Christmas tip:
Foil or glittered wrapping
paper cannot be recycled
so why not put it through
a paper shredder and use
it to pack out your present
boxes, giving your present
some added sparkle.
